4 Steps To Get Your First Client As A Freelance Content Writer
Step 1
Plan your strategy
Whether you'll cold email your prospects, rely on social media, or use a combination of the two.
Cold emailing - Outbound leads
Social media content - Inbound leads
I recommend you use both because anything can work for you.
Step 2
To send a cold email
To send a cold email, look up startups you'd like to partner with and send emails to them. Cold emailing can help you achieve a lot, so don't be hesitant to use it. Gone are the days when you had to wait for a job vacancy at a certain company. You can continue to do so, but you should begin sending cold emails to your prospects. Moreover before sending emails try to understand their business and their area of work and how you can provide solutions to their problems.
Step 3
Content strategy for social media
When I say content strategy, I don't believe you need to do a lot of planning for it. All you have to do now is start sharing your work on social media sites like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. While LinkedIn is more professional, I recommend sharing it on all platforms, including Instagram and Twitter, because anything can work for you. The most important thing to remember is to be consistent.
Step 4
Just Begin
Don't overthink it; just get started. The best path will be a combination of inbound and outbound strategies.
I believe that everyone has their unique way of doing things, so don't be afraid to try your strategy because everyone is willing to share what has worked for them. You can always forge your path. Furthermore, keep in mind that landing your first client will depend on the amount of time and effort you put into it.
Remember your first client will be the result of your efforts and your future clients will be the result of your consistent self-promotion.
That's all for today's newsletter. I hope this will be helpful for you and if you like it don't forget to share it with your friends and family.
